The weather wasn’t cooperative for us on a trip to Capitol Reef. While there was often blue skies overhead, the overcast blocked the sun on the horizon, keeping the monuments from reflecting their traditional brilliant reds.

As we were leaving the park we made one final stop at the Visitor’s Center. Across the street, The Castle had a few touches of sun for just a short moment – with a line of clouds framing it in the sky.

It was only an instant – not time enough to setup a trip for a nice HDR shot. This grab shot was handheld just as the light went away and the cloud faded into the distance.
